Webcor Cycling Team

Webcor Builders held an important designation as one of the few Women's professional US cycling teams to gain Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) recognition from 2005 to 2011. Webcor's team developed seven national championships, qualified five riders to the Olympics, and won a World Cup during its brief history. Holding a position of great pride within the company.

For the last decade, Webcor employees had been using old jersey/kit designs for charity events like the annual Best Buddies Challenge. For the 50th anniversary, I was tasked with a cycling apparel redesign that would incorporate the rebranding efforts, while paying homage to the former team's prestigious history.

  • 4 weeks with weekly touch base

  • Internal employees, potential investors, and the general cycling community.

  • During this process, I had to rely heavily on web article research as the company that designed the original team kits were long out of business. The early 2000's event coverage of US cycling was not archived very well. Fortunately, the international coverage and long-forgotten team blogs were still alive on the web.

I was able to learn a bit from the jersey manufacturer's templates, sizing of assets for different sizing and the change in the fabric panels was an interesting challenge, as well as zipper and seam placement that can affect graphics and kerning.
